Turkey may create special economic zone in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan and Turkey have discussed the possibility of implementing several joint projects within the bilateral cooperation. The statement came from Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan at a press conference in Baku.

According to him, these projects are associated with joint investment and increase in trade, implementation of investment projects, joint activities in third countries, intensification of business and the signing of new agreements.

Caglayan said that in the near future, the Azerbaijani delegation headed by Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev will visit Turkey to discuss a number of issues. "The economy requires multi-vector, so you need to create a roadmap and system of investments.

With the Azerbaijani side we will discuss issues related to industry, tourism and energy," said the Turkish minister. Turkey will also share experience on the establishment of industrial towns. "To this end, our delegation will visit Azerbaijan again to discuss the matter. It is possible that a special Turkish economic zone will be created in Sumgait," the minister said.
