‘Dilmanch’ project presented a number of innovations at ‘Bakutel-2012’ exhibition

‘Dilmanch’ project has presented a number of innovations at this years’ ‘Bakutel-2012’ exhibition. According to information provided by ICTnews, the speech recognition system for Azerbaijani language, displayed at the exhibition,  makes it possible to enter  text to the computer by means of microphone.   Instead of being typed with the keyboard, the text is spoken to the microphone, and as it is being dictated, the system automatically converts the text to the writing.

This system works 3-4 times faster than the keyboard, and can be successfully used by disabled persons, especially by the visually impaired persons. Presently, the system is able to recognize over 160,000 word combinations and has  the recognition quality of more than 91 percent.

The system, whose quality is currently being increased, will be launched in the coming months.  Another novelty is a text reading system, which is able to read a text in the computer with human voice.   Computer users can enter the Azerbaijani text program and listen to it.

Besides that, the program allows computer users to save their time by listening to letters, documents and other texts instead of reading them. The system was already launched at http://tts.dilmanc.az/ website and is now very popular among users.  This year, within the “Dilmanch” project, a new online dictionary, translating from Azerbaijani to English and Russian languages and vice-versa, has been put into operation.

Unlike common dictionaries,  an arbitrary forms of  the word can be entered to it, and the dictionary automatically finds the root of the word.  This option is particularly important for the users who don’t know a foreign language.  Besides, users can look at examples of the usage of the word in different sentences and translation of these sentences. The dictionary can be found at “http://dict.dilmanc.az” internet address.
