China Ministry yet to receive Google application for Motorola buy antitrust review

China's Ministry of Commerce said Thursday it hasn't yet received any application from Google Inc. for an antitrust review of the company's planned acquisition of mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc..

"After receiving a declaration, we will perform an examination in accordance with the anti-monopoly law," the ministry said in a faxed statement.Google this week said it plans to buy Motorola Mobility for about $12.5 billion, a move that would give Google its own in-house hardware operation, potentially enabling it to challenge rival Apple Inc. on better terms.

"The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the U.S., the European Union and other jurisdictions, and the approval of Motorola Mobility's stockholders," a Google spokesman said in a statement to Dow Jones Newswires.
