Japan starts construction of floating solar power plant


Japanese electronics manufacturer Kyocera Corporation announced the start of construction of the world’s largest floating solar power plant.

Power plant, capacity of which will amount to 13.7 megawatts, will swim in the waters of the reservoir of the dam Amakura.
 
The power plant will be launched at the end of March 2018.

After starting the power plant, consisting of 50904 270-watt cells arranged on an area of 180 thousand square meters, will generate 16170 megawatt-hours per year.
 
This corresponds to 19 thousand barrels of oil and is enough to provide electricity to five million homes.
