Symposium on ‘The Future Networked Car’ to be held in Geneva


On 3 March 2016 in Geneva, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will convene a symposium on “The Future Networked Car” within the 86th Geneva International Motor Show, which will be held on March 3-13 in Switzerland.  

Held on the first public day of the Geneva International Motor Show, this international symposium will bring together representatives of vehicle manufacturers, automotive and information and communication technology (ICT) industries, governments and their regulators to discuss the status and future of vehicle communications and automated driving.

The Future Networked Car will examine advances in the area of connected vehicles, from the perspectives of business, technology and regulation. Technical sessions will highlight the crucial roles of connectivity, information security and privacy. The symposium will also discuss how standards bodies can best collaborate to meet industry needs and to achieve interoperability.

According to information provided by ITU, all member–states of the International Telecommunication Union will be able take part in the event.  

Note that Azerbaijan is a member of ITU - the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies. Azerbaijan, which became the 167th member of the union in 1992, has joined to the Convention and the Statute of the International Telecommunication Union.
