Chinese company unveils Hover Camera drone

China-based startup Zero Zero Robotics has just unveiled the Hover Camera drone, a foldable, small self-flying camera drone that follows you around wherever you go just by tracking your face to snap photos and videos.

Rather than a joyriding drone, Hover is more of a flying camera. Turn it on and it will do exactly what it sounds like, hovering in midair. There was a demo last week where upon launching the app it was able to quickly scan its circumference for faces and locks on to whomever it was assigned.

To make it indoor safe, its propellers are wrapped in a carbon fiber mesh cage, which makes it light yet strong enough to bear serious stress. That also makes it very loud, allowing you to hear each and every motor spinning inside the cage.

Hover comes with a 13MP camera that can shoot 4K videos. Also, a dual tone flash and a downward facing 3MP camera are included. The drone is able to hover at a maximum altitude of 164 feet. Using the app, you can adjust its perspective and height in the air. After you’re done, just fold it and put it in your purse.

The most interesting part is what the company calls it Embedded AI, a composition of hardware and software that makes it lock onto a target and follows it.
