Azerpost launched the next international epistolary essay contest


For 47 years, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), together with the Postal Administrations of the UPU member countries, has been holding an epistolary essay contest among schoolchildren.
In Azerbaijan, this contest is organized jointly with Azerpost LLC and the Ministry of Education.

The following three topics were presented for the contest, one of which was proposed by the Universal Postal Union.

– "Imagine that you are a letter traveling in time. What message would you pass on to your readers?"

– "The Azerbaijani army: a 100-year development path"

– "Prominent figures of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic"
.

The winners will be awarded money prizes as follows:

1st place - 3 people – AZN 150 each (1 for each topic);

2nd place - 6 people – AZN 100 each (2 people for each topic);

3rd place - 9 people - AZN  80 each (3 people for each topic);

Consolation prize - 12 people - 50 AZN each (4 people for each topic).

Those wishing to participate in the contest must send their essays to the following address before April 1, 2018: Baku, 36, U.Hajibeyov, Azerpocht LLC, Index: AZ1000.

The best essay on the topic proposed by the Universal Postal Union will be sent to the UPU central office in Bern, Switzerland on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The volume of essays, to be written in Azerbaijani, Russian or English, should not exceed 1000 words.
Under the terms of the contest, essays from each UPU Member State must be submitted to the International Bureau of the organization no later than May 5.

Collected assays will be submitted to a jury appointed by UNESCO. The jury will define 3 main winners and 5 laureates.

The winners will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals, and the laureates will be awarded with special prizes.

The winner of the gold medal will be invited to Bern to receive a prize from the International Bureau.  

The names of the winners of silver and bronze medals, along with the best essays, will be published in the journal "Postal Union".

By providing comprehensive coverage of this event in the press, the International Bureau draws public attention to the laureates of the countries represented.

The award ceremony takes place annually on October 9 - World Post Day.

Note that Azerpost LLC has been a member of the UPU since 1993.
