Services on the Azerbaijan portal to reach 300

The number of electronic services available on the Electronic government portal in Azerbaijan reached 49 units, Elmir Velizadeh Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan said at a conference on ICT held at the Bakutel-2012 exhibition on Thursday. "Work on connecting to the portal to all ministries and departments of the republic continue," said Mr Velizadeh. "New kinds of electronic services are being developed.

Rules relating to the services, as well those to ministries and departments will likely reach 300 units and be approved soon," Mr Velizade said. Launching of the Electronic government portal in Azerbaijran is expected to take place in March 2012. It will be a key tool for supporting the work with citizens and enterprises of state and private sectors.

To create an Electronic government system, the principle of X-Road was used which aims to unite existing data bases and systems of government agencies that were created on different platforms. Launching the portal will reduce the number of requested documents from citizens due to the fact that different bodies will cooperate with each other electronically.
