Meeting held with communications workers from Khojaly at Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies


On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, a meeting was held with communications workers from Khojaly at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.
 
The participants of the meeting first observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
 
Speaking at the event, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev called the Khojaly tragedy a crime against humanity. According to him, for the first time, work on giving a political assessment of the Khojaly tragedy was began by national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev: "Back in 1994, on the initiative of the national leader, the Milli Mejlis adopted a resolution "On the Day of the Khojaly Genocide". The date of February 26 was proclaimed the Day of Khojaly genocide and national mourning".
 
Noting that the worldwide recognition of the Khojaly genocide occupies an important place in the political course of President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Rashad Nabiyev stressed that Heydar Aliyev Foundation is also active and makes consistent efforts in this regard. The international campaign "Justice for Khojaly", initiated by Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, has been carried out since 2008. As part of the campaign, purposeful outreach activities are implemented at the international level, the fair voice of Azerbaijan is brought to the attention of the world community," he said.
 
The Minister noted that before the occupation, 28 people worked at the Khojaly Communications Center. During this terrible massacre, there were also communications workers who were killed, taken prisoner and lost their family members.
 
Rashad Nabiyev also spoke about the successes of the victorious Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the restoration of our territorial integrity.
 
Speaking at the event, Khojaly residents spoke about the terrible events they experienced 29 years ago, and the sacrifices that communications workers made to protect the civilian population.
 
Minister Rashad Nabiyev asked about the challenges of Khojaly communications workers   and said that their social issues are always in the spotlight.
 
In conclusion, the communications workers expressed their gratitude for the organization of the meeting, as well as for the attention and concern shown.
