Azerbaijani minister of Communications and Information Technologies visits Austria


The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Ali Abbasov, is now on a visit to Austrian city of Vienna. Today, the minister will take part on the 7th meeting of  the Azerbaijan - Austria Joint Commission on cooperation in the areas of economy, agriculture, industry and information technologies.

Let’s note that the 6th meeting of the joint commission, which is co-chaired by Mr. Ali Abbasov,  was held in Baku on October 21, 2010. The agenda of the meeting includes discussion of issues connected with the current state of trade and economic relations between Austria and Azerbaijan as well as prospects for development of these relations.

The meeting will also discuss the questions related to the EU - Azerbaijan relations and Azerbaijan’s membership in the World Trade Organization. In the course of the visit bilateral meetings will be held between the minister of the Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic, Ali Abbasov, and deputy director of United Nations Office at Vienna, director of United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, Ms. Mazlan Otman and other  high-ranking persons. A business-forum covering various spheres of the economy will be organized on   February 22 within the meeting of the Intergovernmental  Commission, in line with the policy of expansion into external markets, conducted by the president of Azerbaijan Republic, Ilham Aliyev. Along with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, around 20 leading Azerbaijani companies and more than 60 Austrian companies will take part in the forum.        

Let’s note that the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber comprises all private and state companies operating in Austria. On February 22, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies  of Azerbaijan Republic together with the Azerbaijani Embassy in Austria will celebrate  “Day of Azerbaijan”.         

Members of the Austrian Government, heads of diplomatic representations and directors of some companies have been invited to take part in this activity.
