Number of registered domains in Azerbaijan grows by 1,300 names in 2012

This year the net increase in registered domains in Azerbaijan made up 1,334 domain names.According to www.whois.az, since early 2012 2,804 domains have been registered and 1,470 removed and, as a result, 14,482 domains have been registered in the country, including 13,402 *.az domains.

*.az domain prevails. It is followed by *.com.az - 626, *.edu.az - 143, *.org.az - 84, *.net.az - 55, *.int.az - 44, *.pp.az - 42, *.co.az - 36, *.info.az - 22, *.biz.az - 14, *.name.az - 5, *.pro.az - 4 and 5 individual domains.

For the last 2 years the number of domains in .az domain zone has considerably increased and while in 2009 annual growth of domains made 2,000, in 2010 it was 3,000 and in 2011 reached 4,387. But annual removal of unused or unpaid domains takes place, as a result of which the net growth of .az domains in 2011 made only 1,829 names.
