A citizen of Uzbekistan has been arrested in Azerbaijan for conducting illegal business activities. According to information released by the Public Relations Centre of the Ministry of National Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as a result of operative measures by the ministry a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan Iskanderov Pulat Iskanderovich was arrested for conducting illegal business activities in Azerbaijan.
It was established that P.Iskanderov and his accomplices created an illegal international communication service by attaching special technical devices to the one-sided telephone call equipment, which belonged to the “Bakcell Ltd” LLC mobile operator network. Then, the said persons obtained “GSM” channel distributors and other technical equipment, and installed them in different places in Baku city.
P.Iskanderov bought 245 “GSM” mobile phone numbers, which belonged to “Bakcell Ltd” LLC and were registered in other persons’ names. Without registering these numbers at MCIT’s international automated telephone stations, he entered them in the abovementioned special technical equipment, and connected this equipment to the Internet in order to create one-sided international call service by illegally using the country’s communication network.
As a result of these illegal activities, the criminal group led by P.Iskanderov inflicted more than AZN 104,000 damage to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies. A criminal case was launched against P.Iskanderov and his accomplices under 192.2.2 (making large profits through illegal business) Article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
