Azerbaijani delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov took part in the 25th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), UN’s Special Agency, which was held in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Within the framework of the visit the deputy minister met with the general secretary of UPU Eduard Dayan and the general secretary of the Supreme Council of Communications and Information Technologies of Qatar Hessa al Chabir.
During the meeting with the general secretary of UPU, I. Mammadov presented to Eduard Dayan an honorary diploma of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the efforts he made towards the development of bilateral business relations between the Azerbaijan’s Postal Administration and the Universal Postal Union.
E. Dayan, in his turn, expressed his gratitude for the attentiveness shown to him, and said that the numerous projects realized in Azerbaijan, including "Postal Financial Services" project, which was successfully implemented in the postal network with the World Bank’s support, make Azerbaijan an example for UPU member states.
During the meeting with the general secretary of the Supreme Council of Communications and Information Technologies of Qatar Hessa al Chabir, I. Mammadov and Hessa al Chabir discussed prospects for future cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar in the ICT sphere. I.Mammadov invited Eduard Dayanı and Hessa al Chabir to "Internet Government Forum" and "Baku-2012" exhibition – conference, which will be held in Baku in November 2012.
