The Information Technology Institute of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences has commercialised the AzScienceNet scientific computer network services, the institute told media. AzScienceNet platform will be a tool for rendering Internet services, video conferencing, distance learning and Cloud computing.
Commercialising AzScienceNet's services aims to obtain additional financial resources that will be used to further increase the network capacity and strengthen the information security systems. Hosting services are planned to be deployed on the basis of AzScienceNet's network.
Placing web-resources on the company's server capacity free of charge will be one of the important principles of the institute's work. As it is known experimental work carried out in the field of commercial services, using the AzScienceNet's base was positiveю Cloud services are based in the DATA-centre which was commissioned by the Institute in April.
Users will have three managed services - software-as-a-service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). The institute also plans to expand AzScienceNet's network regionally. It plans to open a AzScienceNet regional office in Ganja. This will operate on the basis of a regional scientific centre in Ganja.
