Sudan to use Azerbaijan’s experience in building e-Government

A bilateral meeting between communication ministers of Azerbaijan and Sudan has been held at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the activity the Azerbaijani side was represented by the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov, and the Sudanese side was represented by the Minister of Science and Communications, Secretary of the National Congress Party on Asian affairs Eissa Bashari Mohamed Hamid. During the meeting Ali Abbasov provided his Sudanese counterpart with thorough  information about activities implemented in the ICT sphere in Azerbaijan, including reforms, local and regional ICT projects carried out in this sphere.

While speaking about future prospects for ICT sphere in Azerbaijan, the minister drew Dr. Eissa Bashari Mohamed Hamid’s attention to the fact that the rate of development of the information and communication technologies sector in Azerbaijan is growing with each year. In his turn, the Sudanese minister provided the Azerbaijan side with detailed information  about activities implemented in the ICT sector in Sudan, including ICT projects, research activities, application of information and communication technologies in various spheres of the country’s economy, and plans for the future.

Dr. Eissa Bashari Mohamed Hamid spoke about the importance of Azerbaijan’s assistance in the development of the ICT sector in Sudan. “It is very important for us that  Azerbaijani companies are taking an active part in the privatization process, which is now taking place in the ICT sector in Sudan.  We are particularly interested in adopting Azerbaijan’s experience in e-Government building. In this connection, I would like to invite you and heads of Azerbaijani ICT companies to make an official visit to Sudan in the first half of the coming year,” the Sudanese minister told  his Azerbaijani counterpart.

A. Abbasov, in his turn, said that the investments to be made by the Azerbaijani companies and investors in the  sphere of information and communication technologies in Sudan would be highly beneficial for this country. At the conclusion of the meeting the two sides made a decision to hold the 1st Sudan-Azerbaijan ICT Forum in Sudan in the first half of 2013, explore the opportunities of the countries in ICT market, organize bilateral meetings between representatives of ICT companies, during which experts and scientist from the two countries could share their experiences in this field.
