Future Samsung phones could include a built-in breathalyzer

While the world is drooling in anticipation over the official launch of Galaxy Note 8, Samsung has silently started working on the next Note device. It was just last week that we came across the leak that the upcoming phablet would arrive with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. And now a patent suggests that the next Note device will also feature a built-in breathalyzer.
 
Yes, you heard it right. As per Patentlyapple.com, Samsung has filed a patent that the smartphone in work has a 'gas sensor' that extends out from the phone and doubles as a phone microphone. Samsung says that the breathalyzer could be a part of a future stylus thus making the smartphone a part of the Note smartphone family. The patent reads, "The gas sensor portion may include a sensor module that analyzes the exhalation, a short-range transceiver unit that transmits data measured by the sensor module to the device main body, a sensor battery that supplies an electric power to the sensor module and the short-range transceiver unit, and a housing that receives the sensor module, the short-range transceiver unit, and the sensor battery, the housing rotatably connected to the moving body."
 
Basically, Samsung wants to include a breath analyzer into the phone to enable users with the technology to analyze their breath in case they plan to take a drive after a late night party. The small but workable toll can help users keep a check on their alcohol level before they go behind the wheel after a glass of wine. The filed patent also has some drawings that show how the setup might work in real life. The above drawing shows that the stylus is bendable and a part of it bends to almost 90-degrees when used as a microphone or as a breathalyzer. The small bendable section of the stylus will have a gas sensor and a microphone inside of it.
 
Another picture in the patents drawing shows an exhalation sensing function selection screen of a portable device having an exhalation sensing function. Well, this does seem like the first-of-its kind feature on a mobile device that might find its way into the mainstream market anytime in future. Galaxy Note 9, the next generation flagship phablet from the stable of Samsung is due to launch in the upcoming year 2018. Talking about the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, the official unveiling of the smartphone is not too far away. The Galaxy Unpacked event is slated to happen on August 23 and that the upcoming flagship device will be launched at the event. It is also rumored to feature an Infinity Display covering the whole of its front and feature the fingerprint sensor at the rear. It is revealed to feature 6GB RAM and Exynos 8895 SoC which was used by the Galaxy S8. Moreover, it will be the first Samsung device to feature a dual camera setup at its rear with two 12MP lenses and fixed optical zoom.
