By the end of this year, 85% of Azerbaijani population will be provided with opened-packed digital broadcasting with 10 TV programs
. The ministry of communications and information technologies told that according to decision of the International Telecommunication Union, until 2015 the world countries must provide the switch to digital TV broadcasting and some countries have already achieved it: “Introduction and development program of digital broadcasting system of the Cabinet of Ministers for the realization of it in Azerbaijan has been confirmed. So, the works carried out in connection with the switch to digital TV broadcasting have been extended in Azerbaijan”.
Digital TV broadcasting with MPEG-4 is already realized in Baku, Ganja, Shirvan, Lerik, Lankaran, Guba and other cities and regions: “Till January of next year, 85% of country’s population are planned to provide with opened-packed digital broadcasting with 10 TV programs”. Note that, thereafter, broadcasting of 50-60 TV programs of commercial use will be realized too.
