YouTube introducing ‘Copyright Match’ tool to protect creators from stolen videos

Google-owned YouTube is introducing a function called “Copyright Match Tool” created for YouTube developers who have issues with unauthorised re-uploads of their content.

With the brand-new feature, after a new video is submitted, YouTube would run a scan to see if there is any other video that resembles the uploaded video very much or is the exact same and if there is a “match”, it would appear on the “matches” tab, YouTube composed in a blog post on Thursday.

“We’ve been checking this tool with creators for almost a year to make it safe and reliable for the whole neighborhood,” the business stated.

If in case a match of an already uploaded material is discovered, the original uploader would have the choice of getting in touch with the other creator or demand YouTube to remove the re-uploaded material.

“As this is a powerful function, we will monitor use closely and will continue to broaden over the coming months with the long-lasting objective of making it offered to every developer in the ‘YouTube Partner program,” the blog post added.

“YouTube Partner Program” lets creators with 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months and over a 1,000 subscribers, monetize their material on YouTube.
