Azerbaijani president’s Twitter audience tops 19,000 people

Currently, Azerbaijani politicians, stars of show business and public figures have their blogs in Twitter. The number of permanent subscribers to the microblogs of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in English and Azerbaijani in Twitter makes up 10,778 and 8,745 people respectively.

The audience of the official account of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan makes up some 3,000 people-official blog @AzerbaijanPA publishes news about the activity of the president and events with participation of the administration representatives. The official blog of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was presented to public in July 2010.

Sources in the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan explained the appearance of the personal blog of Ilham Aliyev in one of the biggest social networks with increased attention to public relations, including with the use of newest forms of communication. This is not surprising.

Social networks are becoming most actual means of exchange of information. Currently, Azerbaijani politicians, stars of show business and public figures have their blogs in Twitter.

According to aztwi.com, holding the audit of the national segment of this social network, Eurovision-2009 star Aysel Teymurzade already has over 6,000 readers.

Twitter.com is a system of microblogs, which helps send short messages to users of the resource (up to 140 symbols) through web-interface, sms and other client programs. Twitter comes from English ‘tweet’.
