Bakcell, The First Mobile Operator of Azerbaijan, announced the commercial launch of its 3G services with participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, on November 23, 2011, at Bakutel exhibition. Together with the President was Mr. Ali Abbassov, the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies.
The decision regarding to awarding of Bakcell a license for provision of 3G mobile communications services, was taken at the board meeting of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies on November 2, 2011.
“We wanted to make Bakcell 3G commercial launch a significant and memorable event in the history of the telecommunication market of Azerbaijan.
A significant moment for Bakcell and for the development of the Mobile Communications sector in Azerbaijan was when the President “pushed the button” putting Bakcell 3G services in operation. We are pleased to celebrate Bakcell 3G services launch together with the opening of Bakutel and 130th anniversary of telecommunications sector in Azerbaijan.
We have great launch offers allowing customers to use and explore the Mobile Internet with Bakcell”, Mr. Richard Shearer, Bakcell CEO said. To activate simply SMS “sur@” to 3535” added Mr. Shearer.
