Azerbaijan postal operator "Azerpoct" received the first batch of debit cards of MasterCard international payment system, the head of the Postal Communications Department of the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry and chairman of the postal services of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications Novruz Mammadov told.
The postal operator has issued 3,000 units of debit cards at the initial stage, he added.
"Azerpoct starts issuing local and international cards in March. The need for local cards is not very high, however, they are already used while paying salaries in the postal operator system", he said.
At present, the total number of local plastic cards emitted by Azerpoct reaches to 2,000 units. Azerpoct payment cards are served by the MilliKart processing center.Azerpoct is a MasterCard principal member. There are seven Azerpoct ATMs now.
