Modernization of telephone network continues at high speed
In result of the investment projects implemented during the last 6 months capacity of ATS increased by 11,936 and capacity the general telephone network reached 1,679,236 numbers. 1,8 million manats were invested in modernization and introduction of new technologies. In result of this EATS with total capacity of 1,040 numbers and 3,145 subscriber lines in 18 regions and Sumgait city were built.
51 km long Lenkeran-Lerik fiber-optic cable route was constructed, which directly connected Lerik central ATS to TAE line. ATS in 21 villages of 14 regions were connected to fiber-optic cable routs. Construction of Yardimli to fiber-optic cable rout started. During the reporting period worn out and outdated equipment in majority of regions of Azerbaijan was replaced or withdrawn from operation. During the same period of the last year 92.1% of telephone lines of the country were digitized; in Baku - 95.3%, in the other areas 88.8%, and hereby Azerbaijan became the first state among CIS countries to complete process of digitizing of country’s telephone network. It should be noted that at an average 50% of world telephone network has been digitized so far.
