Every fifth smartphone owner prefer messengers to mobile communication

An article published in the Financial Times says that according to Deloitte’s survey, in 2015, 22% of smartphone users in developed countries preferred to use traditional voice calls rather than messengers for communication.

“Analysts predict that this figure will rise to 26% in 2016.   Young people aged 18 to 24 most often use the Internet instead of the traditional mobile communication. Those who do not use voice calls prefer to communicate through instant messaging, email and social networks. These trends will have serious consequences for manufacturers of smartphones that attract customers through services associated with traditional calls. In this context, phablets - mobile devices with a large screen, which are often used for reading and sending messages and e-mails – will become the most popular communication tool among young people,” Deloitte says.
