Winners of national finals of innovation competition ‘Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016’ identified

The winners of the national finals of the innovation competition "Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016", organized by Microsoft Azerbaijan and Nar companies with the support of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications and High Technologies and High Technologies Park have been identified. Within the competition, teams consisting of students of higher education institutions and vocational training institutions presented their projects in 3 nominations: "Innovations", "Social projects" and "Games".

A team called "JavaSet" won in the nomination "Innovations". Developers Nijat Javadov and Yesset Zhusupov presented a project for the identification of emotions using the facial recognition function. This product will help teachers to make lessons more understandable for students. With the help of this devise, which films the audience and recognizes the faces of students, the teacher will be able to identify students’ emotions.  Thus, if the device detects tension or discontent in students’ faces, which means that they don’t understand the lesson well enough, the teacher will explain the subject again.

A team called "TechSOS" of SABAH Groups including Aytaj Agabeyli, Gunay Abdullayeva, Naila Ismailova and Sanan Guluzade won in the nomination "Social Projects". The students developed a fall detection system, which consists of 3 parts - an application for smartphones, cloud application and software. The small device is attached to the belt of an old man. In case of the fall of the old man, the device immediately informs the relatives of this man about this unpleasant incident using cloud application. The device also tells the man’s relatives the exact location of the place where the fall took place. Thus, the product will help to speed up the process of rendering first aid to the victim.
A team called "The Corp" of ADA University including Ulvi Mammadzade, Togrul Rahimli, Ramazan Suleymanli and Ali Babayev won in the nomination "Games".  The team presented a sound adventure game which doesn’t have any images. The player can pass the different stages of the game by entering into a dialog with the application. Thus, the product helps the player to develop a spatial reasoning and logic.

The winners in these nominations have got a chance to participate in the international online semi-final. And if they achieve good results, the teams will represent Azerbaijan in the final, which will take place in July this year.
