Lithuania shows interest in expanding ICT cooperation with Azerbaijan

Lithuania is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in the ICT field. This opinion was expressed by Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Rimantas Sinkevičius during his interview with AzerTag (Azerbaijan State News Agency).

“We are ready to share further our experience in the realization of large-scale electronic communications projects, which are considered model projects in the European Union and are aimed at reducing digital inequality between urban and rural areas,” he said.

According to Rimantas Sinkevičius, Lithuania’s experience in the creation of electronic services in the public sector can be also interesting for Azerbaijan. The Minister noted that Lithuania is one of the leading countries of the European Union in terms of the progress achieved in the field of electronic public administration services.

“DocLogix Lithuanian company offers its services and looks forward to further successful cooperation with Azerbaijan within the framework of the project ‘The single G-cloud based electronic document circulation system of the Republic of Azerbaijan,’” Rimantas Sinkevičius said.

The Minister also noted that the Lithuanian ICT companies can offer Azerbaijan appropriate solutions in the field of e-government.

He also said that the efficient use of radio frequencies – a strategic resource of the state – may be viewed as another area of possible cooperation between the two countries.

“It should be noted that Azerpost LLC and Lietuvos Paštas JSC cooperate in the implementation of electronic money transfers via SC/STEFI system. The relevant contract was signed on 1 April 2015 between the postal organizations of the two countries,” Rimantas Sinkevičius said.
