Greenpeace named the most dangerous for the environment gadgets

The greatest harm nature causes the products of Apple, Samsung and LG, and the smallest products of Dell and HP. These are the results of a study by the international environmental organization Greenpeace published on it the website.

Professionals analyzed more than 40 different gadgets (smartphones, tablet computers and laptops) 17 well-known manufacturers. In the evaluation of harm was used four parameters: the replacement display, the replacement battery need to have special tools for repair and availability of spare parts. In the result, each item received a score on a ten point scale.

Of smartphones the safest for the environment was recognized as Fairphone2 (10 points), which has a removable battery, and the most common technical problems can be resolved at home. 8 points received LG G4, LG GS and Xiaomi Redmi 4. The worst assessment was received by the leaders of Samsung and Samsung Galaxу S7 S7 Galaxу edge.

Of tablets highest grade received HP Elite x2 1012 G1, and the outsiders became the iPad 5, the iPad Pro (two points out of 10) and Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Laptops among the most durable and repairable recognized E5270 Dell Latitude and HP EliteBook 840 G3. The most harmful to the environment — model of Microsoft Surface Book, Apple MacBook Pro with 13-inch diagonal Apple Retina MacBook 2017 release.

"Making devices that last longer and can be repaired is an important step that electronic brands can take to reduce the harmful impact on the environment associated with the production of electronics", — stated in the report of Greenpeace. It is noted that every year produces millions of tons of electronic waste.

As the authors of the study, many companies deliberately make their products fragile and difficult to repair by the owners themselves. "Of the 17 brands represented in our assessment, only three — Dell, Fairphone and HP — provide all the spare parts and repair manual" — said in the report.

As it was reported On 26 June, scientists from the University of Texas at Austin (USA) revealed that the presence of even a turned off smartphone reduces cognitive ability. Part of the mental effort it takes to follow the gadget.
