Dell refreshes XPS 13 with 8th-generation Intel processors

Dell is refreshing its XPS 13 2-in-1 notebook with a new model featuring Intel's new 8th generation Core chips. It has the same near bezel-less design and 13.3-inch Infinity Edge display as the previous model, but will utilize Intel's 8th generation Core i7 KabyLake R processor, instead of 7th generation processor.

To recall the Kaby Lake-R is a quad-core processor running at 1.8GHz with speeds up to 4GHz, and is equipped with Intel UHD Graphics 620. Dell claims, the new XPS 13 offers up to 44 percent more performance than the prevous model without sacrificing battery life with the 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor.

The company says the new XPS 13 will deliver "exceptional performance while multi-tasking and running multiple apps".  It is rated to deliver up to 13 hours of  video playback and websurfing, and up to 22 hours of normal usage.

Apart from the processor, nothing else has changed on the new XPS 13. It will come with up to QHD+ display, up to 16GB RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB SDD, Thunderbolt 3 & two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, SD card reader and fingerprint reader.

The refreshed Dell XPS 13 with Kaby Lake-R Core i7 processor will be available starting September 12 at  $1399.99 in the U.S, with additional configurations available in October. The previous model with 7th Gen Intel Core i3 price remain unchanged and starts at $799.
