YouTube HDR comes to Android

YouTube has announced support for HDR videos is rolling out to select Android devices.

Like Netflix, is appears Google is picking and choosing which compatible devices are gaining access.
Upon launch YouTube HDR will be available on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the new LG V30. The LG G6 is currently missing from the line up.

That’s a similar line up to Netflix’s ongoing rollout on Android devices, although the S8 isn’t among those yet.
Interestingly, Google is supporting its Pixel devices too, but strictly speaking they’re not HDR enabled.

Users with compatible devices will be able to view High Dynamic Range videos at up to 1440p and 60 frames per second.
