Researchers: iOS 11 consumes twice as much power as iOS 10

A study conducted by Wandera confirmed that the new operating system iOS 11 consumes twice as much power on the iPhone and iPad as opposed to its predecessor. Recall, after the upgrade to iOS 11 users encountered numerous bugs, performance degradation, flaws in the interface and problems with autonomy. The Wandera report shows that an iPhone or iPad running under iOS 10, on average, discharges the battery from 100% to 0% in 240 minutes. But for iOS 11, this takes half the time. Wandera conducted its research based on data from 50,000 iPhone and iPad owners using their devices moderately and to the maximum. For three days, the power consumption was monitored on devices with iOS 10 and iOS 11.

As it was said above, the devices on iOS 10 worked on average 240 minutes, while the devices on iOS 11 were discharged in just 96 minutes. Wandera suggests a different look at these figures: The rate of energy use in iOS 10 is 0.006958% per second, and in iOS 11 – 0.01739% per second. The network already has a lot of recommendations on how you can increase the autonomy of devices on iOS 11, removing certain applications or disabling some services. At the same time, Apple has not yet acknowledged the existence of a problem with autonomy. Probably, it will correct it in future versions of the OS. Source: fudzilla.com
