This simple machine recycles plastic bottles into iPhone cases

Plastic bottles are one of the biggest sources of polution in the world, but a briliant inventor has created a brilliant solution to get rid of it: turn all the old plastic into iPhone cases.

Phonebloks creator Dave Hakkens recently revealed his latest creation that uses CNC-milled tools to recycle milk bottles, coffee tops and other used plastics to give them a second life rather than wasting away in a landfill.

The machine uses an iPhone case mold and a simple injection molder. Plastic is feed into the molder which then compresses the plastic into case shape. The end result is a unique looking case that can be customized in a number of ways.

Phonblocks has created an entire set of CNC machine molds that can be used with their range of open source recycling machines. The machines turn plastic waste into a resource to make new products.

With 100’s of recycling centres popping up all over the country, it might not be long until we’re all taking piles of plastic in to make protective covers for every gadget you own.
