Azerbaijan represented at international summit on electronic environment
The Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (Fraunhofer IAO) is holding the go.eIDAS Summit in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
The summit, which began on March 27, will come to an end today.
Azerbaijan is represented at this event by Director of the Data Processing Center (DPC) of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elnar Asadov and Head of the Department for International Cooperation of the DPC Arif Mailov.
The summit, which aims to combine practical experience and requirements with academic innovations, has been organized within the framework of joint cooperation on the FutureTrust project and Open Identification.
The summit has brought together providers of mobile applications and trust services, government agencies, state-funded projects and initiatives, academic structures, and commercial organizations in order for them to demonstrate their practical experience within the eIDAS (identification and trust services in the electronic environment) ecosystem.
The main expectations of the DPC from participation in the conference are the implementation of e-signature in identification and trust services in the electronic environment, acceleration of the creation of a cross-border e-signature recognition infrastructure and the harmonization of the (local) legislation in this area with international standards, exchange of views on the creation of more efficient and reliable social services using e-signature, and the study of the current global situation in this area.
It should be noted that relevant work is underway in Azerbaijan to bring the existing legislation into compliance with the documents of the European Union. Within this framework, a new draft law on trust services has been developed, which will make it possible to improve the regulatory framework and technical infrastructure for trust services, mutually recognize e-signatures with foreign countries, save time, and eliminate bureaucratic obstacles when approving electronic documents.
It should also be noted that work is underway with Turkey and Belarus on the mutual recognition of electronic signatures.
