Nokia to offer Windows 8 tablet by June 2012

Finland's mobile telephone manufacturer Nokia Corp. plans to have a tablet computer using Microsoft's Windows 8 phone software ready by June 2012, French newspaper Les Echos reported Wednesday citing the company's top official in France, Paul Amsellem.

Nokia has now started selling its new smartphones that use the Windows operating system in France, the newspaper reported. Nokia teamed up with Microsoft in a bid to boost its sales and recover the share of the mobile phone market it has lost to other manufacturers.

The company said it could not confirm the newspaper report. "We have not announced any specific plans as it relates to tablets," Nokia spokesman James Etheridge told Dow Jones Newswires.
