Huawei Kirin A1 interpretation: the world’s first Bluetooth 5.1 wearable chip


On September 6, Huawei officially released the world’s first Bluetooth 5.1 and low-power wearable chip, namely the Kirin A1. The first products to come with this chip are the Huawei FreeBuds 3 and Watch GT 2. But if the former is already announced, the latter will hit the market a bit later.
 
According to Huawei’s official statement, the Kirin A1 chip is smaller than the recently released Kirin 990 and Apple’s H1 chip. Its performance index is 30% higher than Apple’s AirPods but the power consumption is reduced by 50%. The package size is 95% of the AirPods H1 wireless chip.
 
At the same time, the Kirin A1 also received Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth low power 5.1 standard certifications. Compared to other chips on the market, the chip uses a synchronous dual-channel Bluetooth data transmission technology with lower latency and lower power architecture to help provide optimal performance.
 
The main internal components of the Kirin A1 chip include AP, RAM, Bluetooth, DSP, sensor matrix, power management module, etc. That’s why it has high efficiency, stable connection, and excellent anti-interference ability. As it also provides the fastest Bluetooth transmission speed in real-time, up to 6.5Mbps, the chip can output up to 2.3 Mbps of Bluetooth Ultra High Definition Audio (BT-UHD).
 
Huawei officially said that the Kirin A1 chip can be used in wireless headphones, headsets, neck-mounted headphones, smart speakers, smart glasses, and smartwatches.
 
So with the launch of this chip, the company shows its ambitions in the wearables market as well. As you should know, Huami has released its own chip for this market. It’s called the HUANGSHAN NO. 1.
