Xiaomi Redmi 9 debuts with four cameras, Helio G80 and €150 price tag

The Redmi Note 9 lineup is already on sale, but it's only now that Xiaomi is giving us the most first member of the regular 9 lineup. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 has four cameras, a solid if unspectacular chipset and a very aggressive price tag.

The Redmi 9 comes with a 6.53” LCD with Full HD+ resolution - a major upgrade over the HD+ resolution of the Redmi 8. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and the company claims the phone has 89.83% screen-to-body ratio.

The Redmi 9 is powered by the Helio G80 chipset, coupled with 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB storage. There is also support for two nano-SIM cards alongside one microSD slot for up to 512 additional gigs.

The four cameras on the back go as follows: 13 MP f/2.2 main camera, 8 MP f/2.2 118-degrees FoV ultrawide-angle snapper, 5MP f/2.4 macro shooter and 2 MP depth helper. On the front, sitting inside a waterdrop notch, is the 8MP f/2.0 selfie cam with fixed focus.

This phone has a big 5,020 mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, but you only get a 10W charger in the box. At least the port is USB-C, and right next to it there is a 3.5mm audio jack. Other connectivity specs include Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4GHz. There is also NFC, but the availability might vary between markets.

Currently, the phone can be found on Xiaomi Spain's website in three colors - Black, Green, Purple.

The 3/32GB version costs €149, while the 4/64GB units are €179 a piece. Other retailers like Banggood and Gearbest are also offering the device, starting from $139, but you have to check for additional taxes or tariffs since it will be shipped from Hong Kong or China.
