A new electronic service called “CIS portal” has been launched with the aim of presenting various types of information and reports released by Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS counties and coordinating and improving the efficiency of activities implemented by custom services of the CIS countries.
This information was provided to “ICTnews” online news services by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the committee, trainings on using “CIS portal” were conducted in Moscow. The employer of the Foreign Relations Department of the State Customs Committee (SCC) lieutenant colonel Vugar Hamidli took part in this training. According to him, a number of issues had to be solved to insure the efficiency of operation of the portal.
“These issues related to such areas as the formation of the single information internet recourse, publication of information about activities implemented by customs services and exchanging various types of information among customs services. Most of the issues have already been solved with the help of “SIC” portal.”
It should be noted that in order to be able to work with the portal the user must have experience in using web-browsers, such as Microsoft or Internet Explores, an office programs, such as MS Word and MS Excel, and the Internet. The information posted on the portal includes rules for using portal, contact details of officials working in custom services of the CIS countries, information on activities carried out by custom services of the CIS countries, documents and decisions adopted by the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS countries, links to internet pages of custom services of the CIS countries, etc.
Special section was allocated in the portal for issues discussed during meetings held by the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS countries. The committee says that some of the CIS member countries have given recommendations and proposals on improving the work of the portal.
Although access to some sections of the portal is restricted, users can freely access information stored in the general section of the portal. Documents placed on this section in the form of “Word” format files can be edited and saved in the memory of the portal. The State Customs Committee informed that the results of the training will be discussed at the next meeting of Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS countries.
