Azercell to launch 3G services today

Azercell will launch 3G services on 18 November. The statement came from TeliaSonerra Eurasia President Tero Kivisaari at a meeting with editor-in-chiefs of 1news.az and News.Az websites of Azerbaijan Rahman Hajiyev and Elnur Baimov in Stockholm.

Azercell, which was issued a license in November 2011, have addressed all technical matters and it will launch 3G services for its subscribers on 18 November, he said. “I am confident that mobile operator Azercell will offer 3G services at the highest level,” Kivisaari added.

Azercell, the largest mobile operator of Azerbaijan, is a part of TeliaSonera group of companies. The company earlier announced it was ready to offer this service and that it was waiting for the license to be issued. Azercell is an official partner of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Baku in May 2012.

“It is very important for us launch 3G until the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. We will offer best services to all guests of Baku who will use our network,” Kivisaari noted.
