Google-owned company Waymo has been engaged in unmanned driving technology for a long time, but the creation of software alone is not limited to – its experts invent and patent various innovations that may be useful in the future. One of them is a futuristic instrument panel for cars, on which instead of the steering wheel and various indicators there are only a few buttons.
As can be seen from the illustration attached to the patent, the buttons of the “Go” and “Stop now” buttons can become the center of the new panel. In addition, here are the buttons of the electric window lifter, the door lock, the adjustment of the lighting and heating of the seats. In addition, from the documentation attached to the patent, it is impossible to understand how passengers will be able to set the required route using this console.
Nevertheless, in Waymo certainly provided the possibility of laying the route. Probably, it will be carried out with the help of voice control or through the application – so the user can fully control the car in his usual way. And in the event of an emergency, it will be possible to stop the car with the “Stop now” button.
