Operating system Windows XP, released almost 17 years ago, increased its market share, according to NetMarketShare analytical service.
In May 2018, Windows XP was installed at 5.04% of desktops and laptops across the world against 4.36% a month earlier. In general, the distribution of Windows XP is decreasing, but in some months the OS’ availability indicator is increasing.
According to NetMarketShare, the most popular operating system for desktops and notebooks is Windows 7, whose share in the fifth calendar month of 2018 reached 41.8%, down from 43.57% in April.
In June 2018, Microsoft reported that Windows 10 is installed on 700 million devices. Windows 10 entered the mass market in late July 2015. Microsoft expected to conquer the mark of 1 billion units by 2018, but at some point considered this task impossible, according to Dailycomm.ru.
