Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade is on a visit to Beijing, the capital of People’s Republic of China to attend the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the head of Huawei company together with the co-chairman of the above-mentioned commission, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev.
In the course of the meeting, a presentation of Huawei’s new technological solutions covering various areas took place. The sides also exchanged views on the expansion of the company’s current activities in Azerbaijan.
The possible participation of the company in laying of a fibre-optic cable line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan in the direction of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan was also discussed at the meeting. It should be noted that in the future it will be possible to provide Afghanistan with access to the Internet through Turkmenistan via the highway.
During the visit, Minister Ramin Guluzade also met with head of China Telecom Young Jie. Current relations and prospects for further cooperation with this company in the international telecommunications sphere were discussed at the meeting.
In this context, the importance of taking possible steps to implement the project Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) within the shortest possible time was emphasized.
During the meeting, issues related to the technical solution of laying a fiber-optic cable line under the Caspian Sea in the direction of Kazakhstan, developing a feasibility study of the project, including studying the needs of the Chinese side to use this route in the future were discussed.
At the same time, there was an exchange of views on cooperation with the company in connection with laying of a fibre-optic cable line under the Caspian Sea between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
It should be noted that in order to carry out more detailed technical and economic consultations in this area, heads of Huawei and China Telecom were invited to Azerbaijan.
