A study by Counterpoint Technology Market Research, talks about that last year, nine of the ten most requested smartphones in the world market were released by Apple and Samsung.
So, the iPhone XR device with a share of approximately 3.0% was in first place in terms of sales. On the second line is another Apple smartphone – the iPhone 11 model with a result of 2.1%. Well, Samsung Galaxy A50 closes the top three with 1.8% of the market in 2019.
In addition, the top ten included the following devices: Samsung Galaxy A10 (1.7%), OPPO A5 (1.3%), Apple iPhone 8 (1.2%), Samsung Galaxy A20 (1.1%), Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max (1.1%), Apple iPhone 7 (1.1%) and Apple iPhone XS Max (1.0%).
It should also be noted that the demand for various smartphones depends on the sales region. For example, in the European market last year, the Galaxy A50 became the most popular model, occupying about 5% of the industry. The second and third places are iPhone XR and iPhone 11 with 4% and 3%, respectively.
We add that, according to the estimates of Strategy Analytics, shipments of smartphones for 2019 as a whole turned out to be at the level of 1.41 billion units. This is 1% less compared to 2018, when the global market was estimated at 1.43 billion units.
